ASTM A283 Grade C plate is used for general purpose structural applications with moderate strength (60ksi tensile) requirements. Its workability is good compared to any mild steel.
ASTM A283 Grade C carbon steel plate can be welded by all conventional methods. Its heat treatment includes normalizing at 1650F and slow furnace cooling.
A 283 GR C pressure vessel plate can be thermally processed at 1650 - 1700 F or lower. It can be easily cold worked by conventional methods and can be annealed and slow furnace cooled at 1550 to 1800 F.
A283 steel material is an alloy of iron and is further classified as a carbon steel. Steel specifications for this mild steel plate cover four grades of structural quality for general applications. ASTM A283 Grade A, ASTM A283 Grade B, ASTM A283 Grade C, and ASTM A283 Grade D.
ASTM A283 Grade D boiler steel plate is a low and intermediate tensile strength hot rolled steel plate for general intermediate strength applications. It has a relatively higher strength than A283 GRC.
ASTM A283 Grade A structural steel plate is a low and intermediate tensile strength hot rolled steel used for general intermediate strength applications. It has the lowest strength and highest ductility compared to other grades of ASTM A283 steel.
ASTM A283 Grade B reinforced shall meet the requirements of the current a6/a6m specification. During processing, one or more of the following processes shall be used, such as electric, open hearth and alkaline oxygen.
ASTM A283C mild steel thick plate is a carbon steel with a low carbon content. It ranges from source to source; the carbon content in mild steel is typically 0.05% to 0.25% by weight.
