Stainless steels are high-alloy steels with high corrosion resistance due to the presence of large amounts of chromium compared to other steels. According to its crystal structure, it can be divided into three types: ferritic steel, austenitic steel and martensitic steel. Another group of stainless steels are precipitation hardening steels. They are a combination of martensitic and austenitic steels. 440C grade stainless steel is a high carbon martensitic stainless steel. It has high strength, moderate corrosion resistance, good hardness and wear resistance. Grade 440C is capable of achieving the highest strength, hardness and wear resistance of all stainless alloys after heat treatment. Its high carbon content is responsible for these characteristics, making 440C particularly suitable for such applications as ball bearings and valve parts.
