317 stainless steel wire mesh is identical to 316 stainless steel wire mesh, except that its slightly higher chromium, nickel and molybdenum content (18% chromium, 14% nickel, 3% molybdenum) increases corrosion resistance. Type 317 exhibits excellent pitting resistance in many chemical environments, including sulfur, acetic acid, formic acid, citric acid, chlorides, phosphoric acid, tartaric acid solutions and seawater.
