Hongguan
316 Stainless Steel Round Bar/Rod is often considered standard "marine grade stainless steel," but it is not resistant to warm seawater. In many marine environments, 316 will show mild surface corrosion, usually brown staining, so if you want to use it in the ocean, it is recommended to go with a 316l stainless steel bar. It does exhibit surface corrosion, usually visible as brown staining. This is especially true with crevices and rough surface finishes. Grade 316 is the standard molybdenum-containing grade, so 316 has better overall corrosion resistance than grade 304, with significantly higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. 316 Stainless Steel Round Bar/Rod also has excellent welding characteristics. No post-weld annealing is required when welding thin plates.
