Stainless Steel Hexagonal Bar 316/316L is a hexagonal shaped 316/316L stainless steel alloy bar.
The 316 stainless steel alloy is a standard molybdenum-containing grade and is the second most popular grade of austenitic stainless steel after grade 304.
Molybdenum gives 316 better overall corrosion resistance than grade 304, especially in chloride environments.
316L (L = low carbon)) is identical to 316 except that it has an ultra-low carbon analysis, the advantage of which is that it excludes any harmful precipitation in the 800ºF to 1500ºF range, which could result in welding heavier sections. As a result, 316L is widely used for heavy welded parts.
Typically, there is no price difference between 316 and 316L stainless steels.
