Stainless steel 310H beam are high chromium carbon steels that are not fully corrosion resistant, although they are included in a different alloy category. SS 310S H sections exhibit slight corrosion (rust spots) when left in water for a period of time or when the water dries out. Chromium also produces ferromagnetic stainless steel 310 I-beam, which is not needed in some applications, and nickel helps with this problem. H-beam - H-beam is stronger than I-beam, but it requires more effort to produce. instead of being rolled together as one part, H-beam is made from three separate pieces and welded together. This makes each part stronger because you are using the milling equipment three times to reinforce the material, rather than using the equipment one at a time to fabricate an item. Overall, H-beams are much heavier than I-beams and can withstand more force and stress.
I-beam - is the most common beam in our inventory. I-beams have a center web that can only be rolled as far as the rolling mill equipment can handle (5/8"). I-beams are lighter in weight, which is why they are used so often. The I-beam is also a complete piece of metal. It is rolled from a single part. It can be hot rolled or laser fused.
